[Demo] Botania: Mystery of the Magical Forest

With famine threatening at the edge of your city, you, a magical prodigy, must set out on an expedition to find this ‘Heart of the forest’, an artifact which is believed to contain the essence of nature that is possible to restore your land.

The record says that only a being known as ‘Forest Spirit’ knows the secret to this heart, so you find yourself within the barrier of the Magical Forest.

Could you retrieve said heart and save your town, or will it be eaten away by famine? The course of the story now lies in your hands.

There are currently two forest spirits for you to mingle with in this demo. Each with a complete narrative and a unique blend of flavor for you to try out. 

Vanilla

  The forest spirit of grace and elegance. Alluring in his nature, Vanilla is a man who is high in his charisma, and he’s not afraid to use it for his gain of entertainment. Will you be the one who captures his heart, or will you end up pulled along his strings?

Cacti

A stern desert spirit hardened by his environment, not so friendly and is ready to hurt anything coming too close to him. If you’re able to survive his hot-headedness and the scorching heat of his realms of sand, maybe you might find a softness in the secret beauty he holds.

This is our first visual novel and our first time joining a game jam. Have to say it was quite a journey for every member of our team! There are several difficulties we faced due to our inexperience, and the demo is still rough around the edges, so feel free to leave a suggestion or point out any errors we make. It would really help us improve this game to its full developed state. ✨
